About Lorem Ipsum
Lorem ipsum is derived from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero (45 BC). The scrambled Latin has been the industry standard placeholder text since the 1500s when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
It was popularised in the 1960s with Letraset sheets and later with desktop publishing software. It is used because its distribution of letters and word lengths approximates natural language, making layouts look realistic without distracting readable content.
